Omigosh AG with the ninjas! Had me laughing out loud quite a few times there! I knew a lady like this once, so I just couldn't stop laughing.

Are you sure AG is not the lady you remember?

 Fairly certain, as AG mentioned a tin foil hat. The lady I'm talking about had a fright wig hairdo that no foil hat could ever cover.

Yeah - do this people. It's free Karma, and all it takes is a little of your time. I try to donate as often as I can, and recently got my 25 donations badge from the UK blood service.

My keyring has all sorts of crap on it, but the most interesting is a single link of bike chain, about 1.5" long, from the quayside in Milford Haven, Wales. It's from one of 2 massive drive chains which open and close the marine lock to allow boats into the harbour.

So now that you have hooked part of the chain, how do they operate the lock?

The link I have on my keyring was laying on the dockside, presumably following maintenance. Much as I coveted a nifty keyring, I'd draw the line at dismantling an active tidal lock!

First you have to clean the lock. I'd recommend...

Cool stuff you got there YLF.
It seems I belong to the minority here since I only have keys on my key ring.
Update: I use an assa twin again.

Though the cut is not readable, I would encourage everyone not to post pics of their keys: you never know who might be looking and it's easy to replicate most keys from a decent photo.

LOL I may easily be a lady. I took many shapes and forms during the thousands of years I wandered through these realms.
Plus you ca fit amazingly elaborate hair-do under the tin foil hat. It's just a matter of determination. Plus you can have marvellous models like this so no need for too fancy hair. It's sure to attract approving looks of fellow paranoid ladies in your circles.

Seriously though I seem to attract people who have ninjas or the KGB enter to their apartments. Like the KGB has nothing better to do...

That whole tidal thing just got me rolling on the floor laughing
I wanted to add you have to have a very tidy working methods but Gordon's was so much better!

Thanks, and you're dead right about not posting key bittings without blurring them over; thanks for pointing that out. I don't think I would have thought about it even though in theory I should have known much better. Coincidentally most of these keys are now out of circulation (I usually install a different lock on my flat and give a key to the manager, being that I am no longer in a flat, I should've taken them off awhile ago.)

 @ tidal lock btw, that joke almost slipped past me!
and
 @ making a foil hat look decorative

Thanks for a good laugh, AG; you are good for more than just astonishingly helpful lock information.

I have, in addition to too many keys (some for work), one of those tiny bright flashlights and a tag I made from the head of a Medeco key that I stamped "if lost call" and my unlisted phone number. If anyone is using ball chain for carrying keys, PLEASE don't-they break easily.

Ready?

This is the ring I carry for work -- The road unit's key, the shop key, an Abus Shackle change tool, a Kwikset reset tool, A spanner for those cash box nuts, a handcuff key (two different types), dogging keys, 1/8 and 5/32, a change pin for Simplex 1000 type rim devices, a SImplex DF59 key, and a 3 inch long very sharp tool for depressing the retaining catches on locks. It can be used as a weapon if needed - trust me I have.

Lastly, a brass tag with the company name and PO box on it with "Reward for returning" in the back side.

I don't have a key chain when i'm in Thailand.
I carry just one Schlage key in my back pocket, for the door to my apartment and one RFID card in my wallet for the gate.
No car/bike key's since taxi is cheaper here.

When i'm in the Netherlands i do have a keychain.
It has the "key" to a shopping cart (the one that gives you back your 50 cents and chains all the shopping carts together, I use it as a key hanger).
3x Silca (mom's house, dad's house and euh... i forgot where the 3th one is for, oh no, this is gonna be stuck in my head until i remember)
1x Nemef (bit older not flat type).

As a kid i collected key's. I remember how I could open most locks just by trying all the key's in my possession.
