New to lock picking! what should i get?

Hey i have a lock taht i need to pick, i have no idea what i am doing or what tools/kit to buy. The key has teeth on both sides so im guessing there are pins on the top and bottom of the lock. How should I approach this?

hhmm.. well your lock sounds like a double sided wafer lock, a window lock perhaps.

A photo of the lock would be very helpful

hey, i searched google for wafer lock and it looks very similar to:

is holding back doors under a bar with a toothed rack and the lock is riding on it.

Its a glass door lock, im guessing it isnt yours as youve not provided a picture so i dont think your going to get much help also as its the sort of lock that keeps electronic goods and trophies etc safe.

its mine..... i just dont have a way to upload pictures.. but yes thats a better descrpition of what type lock it is. Also the purpose is so that it works again.... if i wanted someone eleses stuff id use the cutting torch and a hand gun.

now have you lost the key?, if you have the key is it not opening when you are turning?

give us some more info to work on

yes, i have lost th key. it seems to be in fine condition

well if you've lost your key then a locksmith would be your best bet becuase this way you can get a new key cut and save yourself future problems.

altough if you for some reason don't want to call a locksmith then look for info on how to pick a wafer lock - it is basicly a different kind of wafer lock and the same procedure applies to picking yours
