I've not heard of it. Yes it can be picked or bypassed. It's simply a question of difficulty. ;)

Hey I know this is a DEAD topic but I am about to defenestrate this bad boy.
SP_A0334.jpg

Found it in a junk drawer with no key, and it was frozen up. I used some dry lubricant and beat it against the floor(figuratively) until it loosened up.

It's got 3 side-lock rounded pins perpinicular to the keyway, and very small short-travel pins at the bottom of the keyway. I have yet to crack this one, and it has a very nasty habit of grabbing my pick solid.

Currently my strategy that doesnt work is to feather torsion, slide over the 3 side pins, then rake while 'fanning' the wrench. I have had very little sucess getting more than 2 pins bound and solid, before the security side pins come out and grab my hook/diamond/rake. I have to use another pick to retract them to free my pick.

If anyone has any info on this lock I would be very grateful. Sorry for the cellphone pictures!

Thanks for the pictures. I've not come across this make either and was wondering what it was like. It certainly is a bit different from anything I've seen, so thanks again for the pictures!

One of these! These locks are great fun to pick, really. Also, it actually has 9 pins it it - 4 on the side and 5 in the top. The first thing about it, is it required a LOT of tension. Probably the most tension I have ever used on a lock. What seems to work nicely, is to use a tension wrench to push all the side pins flush against the wall - this is sort of like overlifting the pins. Then, you are free to pick the other pins as one would normally (with a ton of tension, which makes things fun). As a note, this lock is mentioned in Greyman's book as well. (Also, I have been looking for another one of these badly, and if you tire of it, please PM me for selling or a trade. ;) )

These padlocks have always been one of my favorites. I have spent a very small amount of time but have been unsuccessful in bypassing this lock.

Here is a photo of a key in case anyone was wondering:

Try the recommendations that I said in an earlier post on this thread. They really are quite easy with a few tricks (and still really fun to pick).

There is a write-up of HEAD in my book, in the chapter on pin-tumbler locks. If you like the book (after viewing it online), please consider buying a copy.

IMO, HEAD is junk - it picked open in under 30 seconds.
