commercial Schlage locks

Information about locks themselves. Questions, tips and lock diagram information should be posted here.

commercial Schlage locks

Postby compgenius3 » 23 Jan 2006 1:03

I am looking for information on Commercial grade Schlage locks, they're somewhat odd but I'll try to describe them. The key looks like a normal key with ridges on top, but on one side there is a second set of engraving. It seems that this is for a second set of pins inside the cylinder. Sorry that I don't have a picture, but I am having trouble finding anything about this key. I anyone has any information about this lock, picking it or otherwise, I would greatly appreciate it.

Schlage Primus. We don't discuss them much in the open forums, but you can search.

basic info:

Goto schlage's website and you can get good illustrations of how the lock is put together and stuff like that.

The bottom set is for the sidebar and has 5 rotational pins that have 2 heights and 3 rotations availible(L, C, R).

usually the sidebar is the same for the whole company/entity that uses the locks... the lower end grade has the same sidebar for ALL the locks(like you'd buy in a store and not have a locky custom install), and higher end security would have different sidebars for different area's of the company/whatever.

That's about it...

I think your referring to Schlage Primus. Those side cuts are unique to each system they are created for. Schlage Primus is a key system that utilizes the normal top cuts as well as unique side bittings. There is also Schlage's new standard which is called Schlage Everest. The side bittings on these are not unique however they are unique to Schlage as a manufacturer and there are not aftermarket keys or cylinders available.
