SIMMONS LOCK

Postby frogvv » 12 Feb 2006 12:10

i have an old brass simmons lock, it has the spring bar keyway in it. it looks like the shackle pulls straight out when the key is turned. when you move the shackle the key cylinder also moves. what direction would i apply pressure with my tension wrench.this is a nice old lock and i sure would appreciate any info on its operation. (i have no key) thanks.

The keyway will rotate one way more than the other, the way it turns more is the way to try first although you may find it could open in either direction.
