Worst Lock I own - Masterlock 175

Postby sams choice » 20 Mar 2006 9:04

I got the Masterlock 175 yesturday. I was going to try and figure out a way to manipulate it, except from the obvious shimming, because it is shimable. I was going to try and make a seasame tool and play with it, but i realised that the ablity to be reset ruins this.

Well the thing about the lock is it is hard to use. The number are extremely hard to turn. Sometimes i put it on the right combo, and it doesnt open., You have to push down the shackle and pull up and it usally takes me like 5 or 6 trys. Then i cant get the thing to lock closed. It is a crappy piece of work too. The cutting of the brass is off. It looks almost homemade when i look at it. It also has copper insides. Copper. All in all if you want to get a 4# set your own number, combination padlock for cheap ($13), Get the brinks 175D maybe? i dont remember. The picture below though is it.

David Storms DVD shows a bypass for this lock using a short hook. I don't know if it's allowed in this forum so I won't post it unless told it's ok to do so.

That technique has been talked about so many times.

Well enough to do it atleast. I was thinking of a more friendly kind of way.
