I just found this on cnn. I can't zoom in but it looks like an Abus to me. I can't find one on their site with that type of shielded shackle though so maybe not. Any guesses?

Could it be a W lock? Isn't that the new medium security lock for the DoD?

Ive enlarged the lock a bit and attempted to sharpen it up. This is the best I could come up with.

It's not a W-Lok, since they have rectangular bodies and nothing protecting the shackle.

Most padlocks are bullet-resistant... There used to be a video somewhere around the forum with someone testing padlocks for their bullet resistance. I've seen it a few months ago, so my memory is a bit hazy. I'm not entirelly sure, but i think that it were Master padlocks that were tested for bullet-resistance. Most hand-guns didn't leave a scratch; some did bend the plate a bit; most rifles made the lock unusable, but still it remained closed. It was only a shotgun that broke the padlock open.
So i believe it's safe to assume that the lock on that picture is in fact bulletproof.

Mabey someone has more detailed information as to the author of that film i'm writing about, the weapons used and if it really was a standard Master padlock.

The shot placement was inconsistent, ergo, the results are useless.

Thanks for the link pdoke. I wish he would have taken a couple of shots from above or directly at the shackle. Yeah, yeah, he clarifies at the end, but I think it would have been easier to shoot off the lock if he had done that. He also might have gotten two each of different kinds of locks (one as the control). With that all said, it is an interesting link. Kind of in the same spirit of the link where those guys test the resistance of different brands of deadbolts and accessories with kicks, hammers, and forklifts. If somebody has that link it would be cool if they could post it.

I own one of those.

It is a basic padlock, except that it has a cross shaped key with four bitting edges. I even asked about it in another thread. My sis brought it back from Iraq for me as a souvenier. All in all a decent lock.
