Brinks (Series 2019-130) Deadbolt

Postby darkk » 5 Apr 2006 19:04

I've had no problems popping open kwikset/defiant deadbolts along with several different master and mountain security padlocks but today I picked up this bad boy at Walmart ($8.99) and I'm having no luck at all with it. Just wondering if anyone has any advice for me or experience with these deadbolts.

I did one

We put Defiant Deadbolts on our house, removing all the old kwiksets. I've picked both. I learned on the kwikset's using db's guide (picking 1-5 pins at a time progressively). I don't believe the Defiant had any security pins in it, but I could go check. The Kwiksets I had DEFINATELY did not have any security pins, which I know because I ripped them apart.

As for picking, it should be the same as the master unless it has security pins. I've never heard of Mountain padlocks. I had some trouble picking it (Defiant) my first time, but I attribute that to the fact that it was the first door mounted lock that I picked. Everything prior had been either a padlock or something in wood sitting in my lap.

Good luck,
Brooks

I ended up just taking the thing apart and it turns out that it actually had a spool in it. I took it out and just left in the four standard pins and opening it is a breeze now.

I am pretty sure the defiant dead bolts have a spool in them. I tore mine open and sure enough there it was.
