I got this lock into possession, it´s my neighbors, he asked me to repair it(make a key), no stress, anyway to make a short story long,
I can´t pick it, could it be that I have bumped into a quality product here? Cuz it looks like a Medeco(the one Zeke is picking). Or is it my skills, hehe could be, I have only been pick´n since 12. Sep 2005

What is wrong with this lock man :x
I need help
It has five pins and it needs hard tension, the slightest let go and the pins fall!

I almost forgot to post a picture of the key, but here it is!

:D
Before you pick a lock:
The first thing that you should do is check to make sure that
the lock is your's and secondly make sure its not in use.

Its not actually anything like a Medeco ive seen the keyway is a pretty standard one and easy to get picks into,

The lock could be better quality than your used to but to be honest i dont expect any decent security there against picking,

You may find a spool pin in chambers 2 and 4,

If it needs heavy tension then so be it some locks do,

I think the simularity is in that its a screw in mortice cylinder but thats common im afraid,

The Medeco keyway is shorter and wider than that one and the keys are a lot thicker on the cut part.

You should try shimming it open and rekeying it that way, if you keep picking it to no avail you may make the lock un-useable for its owner, do the job at hand and then go and source one to buy if you want.

Oh..ok

Shim it you say, now that´s a good idea  I had no idea it could be shimmed, but now that you mention it, I guess I could go in from behind, it just have to be very thin(I do not have anything that thin!), if that is not what you mean, well then I don´t have a clue!

About picking the lock, I am not picking the customers lock for fun, but because I have to, that was until you told me I could shim it!

I understand your concern, and I´ll try to be careful :!:

Thanx for the help

:D

You can buy shims for this if you can't find anything thin enough. Here are some: http://www.lockpicks.com/index.asp?PageAction=VIEWPROD&ProdID=149

Is it just me or does that key look like a blank?

Nope. It's just you. Looks like the key is cut to 64534 to me.

That's exactly the way, get in from behind. Go and find something with an RFID security tag on it, I am sure they have these things in Brazil. Get the tag, cut itopen from the rear (on the corners). In there will be two little metal stripes, absolutely perfect in size for shimming pin tumblers.
Due to financial limitations the light at the end of tunnel has been turned off until further notice.

I guess if you'd read my guide on repinning you'd already know how to shim, and how to make your own shims... Maybe a sticky wasn't enough... maybe it needs a photoshoped db wearing a thong and dancing next to the link to get your attention?

Yes you shim locks from behind, read illusions guide, you use a key blank as well.

Jason, see the smiley db put on his post? now read the OP, youll note there are no keys and he has to make some, they are blanks.

Wrenchman really read all the stickies at least, whatever you do remember, do not push the key in the lock when the shim is in it, the shim, goes in as the key comes out.

Illusion, thats one bad vision i have in my mind now

Ok, so here´s (I)what happend:

I (don´t)made a shim out of a floppy disk, I had flatten it even (read)more than it was.

But the shim went (stickies)only in until pin 4, so I picked the last 3 pins.

And the plug turns :P

But the shim is stock and (enough)broken :(

Now what :?:

:D

Push the plug out from the back... the shim is a bit thick so you may find you have to push quite hard.

IMHO you should have used a thinner shim made from a security tags on DVD boxes... but there you go.
