S&G 6730 PADLOCK--huh??

Postby devildog » 8 Jul 2006 16:42

Ok, I saw this and initially thought that the guy just screwed up and said 6730 when what he had was a 8077 or 8088, but then I looked at the pictures and saw that the box actually said it was a model 6730--help?

By the way, what's the difference between the 8077 and the 8088?

I belive that is lock the lock that came before the 8088. Then there was the 8077, the current model.

Hmm? Ad says 1951, not 6730...

Looked at the ad; where does it say 6730? The 6730, if I remember correctly (and I'm looking at a 6700-series on my desk right now) is a safe lock, not a padlock. The the picture is of a 1951, which does look like a proto-8077 (got one of those on my desk, too).

Yeah, my mistake. I thought the guy running the auction had said that it was a 6730, but he didn't--the LABEL on the box does! That's even weirder, so it seems that either S&G mislabeled a 8077/8088 as a 6730, or they actually had a combo padlock eerily similar to the 8077/8088 models that they called the 6730 for some odd reason.

Oh, I know that a 6730 is a safe lock, I've got two of them mounted on stands right now, along with an Ilco knock-off of that particular model. I'm saying that, for some very odd reason, S&G seems to have labeled a 8077/8088 as a 6730 :? :?:
