Schlage key in knob?

Hey guys. Does anyone know how to acess/change the pins in a schlage key in knob? Can't seem to take it apart

on my schlage handleset you insert the key and turn it to the unlock posistion and leave it there. Then i use a scratch awl or other pointed pick and insert it into the hole at the base of the handleset and pull the complete assembly off. the lock cylinder should then just fall out of the back of the now detached handle.

The key in knob is sooo much harder to pick than the same set deadbolt. Why is that?

if it is like my schlage key in knob, the keyway lays horizontally not vertically. That to me makes it harder to pick.
