picked: Master Lock ProSeries 7040

Stopped by the locksmiths on my usual Tuesday visit and picked this up for $17.50 US.

Sorry to report it was easily opened in about 20 seconds, on my third attempt. I had just sat on the couch, started to watch Carl Sagan's Cosmos on the Discovery Science Channel and click, it opened.

The keyway is soooo tiny, the wrench gets in the way of moving the pick in and out. I used a slimline medium hook.

I think I had more trouble with a proseries 6121, but I swear this is what's under that black rubber coating.. anyone confirm?

Nope, under a 6121 is laminated.
For the best book out there on high security locks and their operation, take a look at amazon.com for High-Security Mechanical Locks An Encyclopedic Reference. Written by our very own site member Greyman! A true 5 Star read!!

Are there any modified drivers in that proseries master padlock. I noticed my No.532 and a No.140 I bought today at Big Lot's for $1 has one in the second pin stack.

Yes, a 6121 is a laminated padlock, but the 6121's would have the same cylinder, usually has 5 spools if I recal correctly, maybe 4. Shouldn' have any extra trouble with it.
