Information about locks themselves. Questions, tips and lock diagram information should be posted here.

Best combination padlock

Postby Dartan » 22 Oct 2006 11:02

I saw the poll on here about which lock you'd consider the best padlock, but none of them were combination padlocks. Does that mean there isn't a combination padlock that is difficult to bypass? If not, which combination padlock would you use?

The S&G 8077 is a combo lock with a group 1 locking mechanism. (group 1 = manipulation proof safe lock)

Sargent and Greenleaf 8077 padlock on ebay.

It seems to be one of the most secure combo locks that I know of.

Other than that, I know most combo locks are pretty insecure, except dudley, which we never could crack.... :( :(
On the other hand, they can be kicked off of lockers, etc.

don't loan the key

don't loan the key to your combo padlock, the only ones that are easy to change combo on are also quick to open with shim or petersons mightyknife.
