So there comes many a time I am grateful to be in here.

So out of curiosty i dissasemmbeled my Wnikhaus rim cylinder (my thread is in the general area under "My New Piece"

Anyhow, when i put it back together i lost one of the side bearings.

So i put the lock back together and test turned it with the key and it jammed roughly 45 degrees of rotaion.

I tried shimming the bearing stacks on both sides and the top of the plug.. no go.

Anybody with expiernce with these cna offer some help of me getting my key out the plug

I can supply a picture if nessesary but i think if you worked with these you might be bale to help.

Thanks fella's

Newbie

you aren't getting the key out unless you can remove the pin stack that is blocking the bearing stack....

same principle the EVVA DPI uses to thwart bumping....

last resort

with stuck keys where you know that the pin is the problem and you need to move a pin that you can't touch, try holding the lock with a little bit of turning pressure on the plug and rapping on the body of the lock with a wooden hammerhandle in a direction to drive the pin or pins where You want them to go. It's just a last resort. and let us know if that works for you

Start tapping the outside of the lock with a mallet (a mallet is not made of steel) whislt tensioning, you may get lucky and bounce things back enough to sort it out otherwise its a shim/wire/pick/blood/sweat and tears time for you :P

 yess

Yea I and going to try and get a shim down each bearing stack the last of 4 seem to be jammed.

I miscounted by using the key, upon takin it apart there were 8 side bearings 4 of which where hardened and some anit drill pins. Freaking good lock for ten bucks, I told a mate through PM you guys over sea's are lucky because event he shartiest lock over your way pummels ours

If i cant get the shims in I will post full pictures I would have sooner, However Virus (liek the cold i have now) love my computer, so i had to delete and reinstall some drives and have to load up my Digi cam picture thing.

Shrub's rapping suggestion is worth a try. Failing that, it sounds like drilling the blocked pin chamber(s) is in order. This type of problem happened to me a few times and with most German cylinder locks, the tolerances are so tight you can't shim and even if you could, there may not be a sympathetic bevel at the shear line to help you out

Well, I love my winkhaus, but, i and choping it into a cutaway, hopefully getting the key out.

If it wasn't sucha fine pice of lock i would have smashed it, like a kwickset when i sliced my finger with a shim... It will nto be missed.

Ugh, This lock was awsome to :x
