M.L. 6230 HELP PLEASE

Postby n00bking » 3 Jun 2007 16:24

OK. I want to scream and cry. My dad picked me up 2 padlocks today. a Master Lock 6230 knockoff made by S. Parker. And a warded lock. So I picked up the 6230 K.O. first of course. It is able to be repinned because of on the bottom there is that little plate that comes off if you unscrew the screw after you open the lock. So I take the key and da da da, all the pieces fall out. I am like ok...well no problem so I study and examine. OK now I want to try to pick this thing. I try to put it back together. Basically when I try to put it back together I am getting this. 2+2=-4. Yes, 2+2= negative 4.

You are probably thinking WTF? And sure, let me explain. Of course there are no numbers involved but it seems to me like I am on the show punk'd.

OK

So if you look at the lock cylinder there is a half circle on the back of it. Standard right? it turns the thingy that turns and lets the ball bearings in therefore opening the lock. OK, So if you are looking down the keyway it is on the right side. Now...the thingy that has the indents for the balls to fall in and the not indents for the balls to be pushed back by has like a 1/4 circle thing. Semi-Standard, I would expect another half circle, but what is the difference. But...PROBLEM. This little 1/4 circle IS ON THE RIGHT AS WELL!.

OK...great...so you flip around the thing and all is well right?

WRONG, I can't because there is a little tab coming off of the thingythe thingy that does the ball thing and that prevents me from rotating it 180 degrees and my problem being solved. There is a little ridge above the cylinder thingy that you put the lock mechanism and the thingy that does the ball thingy into, and the little tab that sticks off of the TTDTBT goes into it, but then you can't key the key cylinder in because the little things are both on the same side.

I remember opening the lock a couple times with the key before took it apart, and the key turned to the right. And like there was a little plate that made it only go right and not left.

WTF AM I DOING WRONG! how do i fix this I am going infreakingSANE!!!!!!!!!!!!!

If you are still saying wait...WTF? I got some pics.

I seriously am going to go scream at the top of my lungs if I can't fix this. See the worst thing is, is that at one point in time IT WORKED! it isn't some bull crap that i found out on the street or bought parts for it on the inerternet, and assembled it and found out i bought the wrong parts.

I buy lock. Lock works. I take apart lock. Lock insides are designed not to work with each other...wait...lets go back to step one...I buy lock, Lock works...I want to scream at the top of my lungs S Peterson or whoever TF makes this crap **** yourself!

whew...ok...anyone know how to fix this?

woah...

Why don't you take those first picks down from hosting asap? otherwise it's wicked hard to read what you wrote.

Dead links are better than huge pictures. :)

I can't, they are imageshack.us links, you can't remove them, to my knowledge, like you can't take off the file from imageshack. If a mod could just take them out, and/or replace them with the links from my 2nd post that would be helpful.

Well it is free. You go to www.imageshack.us and upload your pics and they give you links. Now photobucket on the other hand is like that but you have to like log in or make an account or something. imageshack.us is just faster and I like it better, bigger pics, up to 1.5mb

I have to disagree with you there, Photobucket, although you must create an account, allows you reaccess your photos many times, lock your album, create sub albums, and has several editing features. On top of all that imageshack photos expire after time and then leaves broken pictures all over the site.

imageshack sux big cox if you ask me
