Hello,
let me introduce the FAB - Czech made lock, which I use at my frontdoor.
That is a standart cylinder lock, which can be installed to most european door.
I got one more piece so I disassembled for you a bit.
The lock has 5 standart (active) pins with no security feature and 8 more passive side pins (four by each side of the keyhole), which are driven by the side curved cavity of the key. This eight-pin additional feature is included at the outside door side of the lock only.
For me, it seems to be a very hard to pick lock. I tried to rake the no-security side of the lock with the snake rake, and, of course, I was succesfull very quickly.
But to pick it from the security side, this is another piece of cake. Even I have removed the active pins from the lock and tried to play with the side pins only, I was not able to pick it.
But, when my wife left the key in the flat and called the locksmith, because our baby was sleeping inside, he was able to open in about 20 sec. w/o any problem. The tool, he was using, she described like kind of 15cm long "snake shaped wire".
So enjoy the photos and if any idea how to pick...
