Abus diskus vs Master 40

Information about locks themselves. Questions, tips and lock diagram information should be posted here.

Abus diskus vs Master 40

Postby CaptHook » 20 Apr 2004 20:11

Ive never had the chance to work on an abus, what are the differences in the two? Ive seen it mentioned here that the abus is THE diskus, everything else like it is just a copy. Im kinda curious if its just in tolerance, a tighter keyway etc?

Very tight keyway, higher tolerances, and lots of spool pins, and often high/low bittings. Most diskus style locks can be a pain to pick when attached to something, simply because its a pain to get a good handle on them, apply tension without blocking too much of the keyway, and still leave room for picking.

LeaKeD, thanks for the thought. You are referring to the post http://www.lockpicking101.com/viewtopic.php?t=2399 . I have read it many times beforehand and my question wasnt answered. I have had several master 40s, and have had no trouble with them. Id just like to get ahold of one of the abus versions to tinker with. Thanks Chucklz, you answered it.
