Bypass picking

Postby Gelmar » 22 Dec 2007 22:24

I have a padlock where the locking bolt is exposed in the back of the plug. I know there is a way to open it (if exposed) by pushing this aside. However the shackle clasps on both sides. Is there a way to bypass this type of lock by moving some piece in the back of the plug?

I've had success picking this lock, but I would like to understand better what is happening inside.

This particular lock is a Bell 1111665: Maxguard

(I think, I'm still a little hazy on lock names and finding diagrams for them)

if you have access to the back of the plub, you could try shimming the sheer line

Its christmas, its only a cheapo padlock, if ya know if the locking dog can be moved just tell him. If it cant be moved, its a good lock if it can be moved, are we now going with the security through obscurity routine.
Op, I don't know or I'd tell ya, it should be easy to figure out, I recomend a hook. Lets keep this site open, not oscure.

Hmmm.... :? I suppose you could use a straight knife type tool and start scooting apart both sides while you pull on the shackle? I've never ran into this problem before so I can't really give you a diffenite answer. If its anything like a Master Lock you'll probably need to rotate the part that retracts the bolts. Sorry I can't be of much help.
If a lock is a puzzle, then its key is the complete picture

Thanks for the info. I'm going to make myself a straight thin tool this weekend so i can poke around back inside of it and get a feel.
