Information about locks themselves. Questions, tips and lock diagram information should be posted here.

Just read a snippet in one of the daily papers about a lock that opens via knocking. (sounds funny, but true)

Neat, though this sounds a bit like a voice activated lock, the problem with any lock that relies on sound to be opened is that the sound can be recorded and played back....and at fairly high distances...
Let the picking begin...

You obviously didn't read the article.
"Even more importantly, if an unauthorized person tries to record the knocking sequence and play it back in order to open the door, the lock will not open since the knocking sequence changes every time."

Sorry, doug, i missed that part, i did read the article, but quite quickly so must have skimmed over that part.
So it uses an rsa-like sequence that changes every so often, from what the article makes it sound like, every knock.... i wonder if you can crack the next knocking sequence if you had like 100 knocks recorded in order... like if there is any sort of a pattern to the knock sequence generation itself?
Let the picking begin...

I mean, theoretically, since all the knockers and locks use the same encryption algorithm... This is a cool technology, because it combines the RFID like technology except its variable sequencing on the password, and you cant really clone this unless you know the pass code, like you can with an RFID card. I think this is a very promising technology, although at first it sounded kind of ridiculous. I think I am going to start buying stock in some Israeli security companies before too long

Obviously the search function is still not working, as the knocknlock has been widely discussed here already.

You are correct global, the search function brings up nothing about knock, lock or israeli.
It's very hard looking through the site for information, when the search function fails to bring up any links.

That's true and very unfortunate.
Meanwhile, using the search term
site:lockpicking101.com knock lock
on www.google.com does help (a little).
Cheers,
