masterlock 140

Postby enjoi91 » 10 Mar 2008 22:09

I jsut got the master lock 140 and the 141 on Saturday and just today i was able to figure out where the spool was and after i knew i just had to push 3 pins up and it was open. The security pin ended up being the 2nd pin. so my order of picking was the first pin, last pin. and it would open sometimes otherwise it would false set then i just release some tension and push the second pin and then its open. so yeah I'm happy right now

140!!!

Postby fredd3039 » 19 Mar 2008 6:43

I have a 140 that I have yet to pick. I have tried spp, raking and both together. I can't even get a false set. I repeat I have never even got it to false set. I just bought it the other day and I don't know if I just got a great production run with tight tolerances or what. I just know the thing is not budging. Any ideas?

I bought a new 140 and I got it opened in under a minute. I think that other one is just evil.

Loosen up on the torque, you'll lock the spool pin if you get too anxious and apply too much pressure. Sometimes it can be tricky because padlocks feel like they need more torque just to set the first pin... but just take it nice and slow and read up on the tutorials and getting past spool pins.

on most of the master locks ive used they will turn a bit at first and "tighten up" then they will start to bind the first pin, after you get it to "tighten up" let it come back a little bit because you may have too much tension on it...I mean a LITTLE bit not enough to see the plug turn.

Got it open finally. The wierd thing is that there was a sliver of plastic that came out when I removed the pick. Probably wouldn't have even seen it but it fell on a black rubber mat I use to protect the table. I guess this sliver was interfering somehow.

light tension is the key, I haven't found much difference between a master#140 and a master 40 mm, they both open the exact same way. light tension and a hook

Before today, I had only gotten the 140 twice. I was practicing on a Master 141 and 142 today, and thought I'd give the 140 another shot, and I ended up getting it twice with a snake and once with a half hook, all in under 3 minutes at most.

The first time I got it with my snake pick, all the pins except the first were set, the first pin is serrated and I just used the tip of the snake pick to bring it down and the plug turned! :D

For anyone else having trouble with it, just keep practicing, that's how I was able to open it. Try different ways, even if they seem odd.
I was once told, to "destory a scientif in a Fenrir".

I have since then looked at life differently.
