Interesting Schlage IC core padlock

Information about locks themselves. Questions, tips and lock diagram information should be posted here.

Interesting Schlage IC core padlock

Postby maintenanceguy » 2 Apr 2008 14:57

I found this at work today. Looked like a Schlage IC core but not quite. The IC core looked to be just on odd size. Just looked a little too big so I investigated.

A little keeper screw under the lock shackle released the core.

Turns out it's not an IC core at all, just an regular old KIK cylinder.

Maybe I'm the only one that's never seen this but it's new to me.

I had one of those years ago, except in the old brown brass finish. reasonably easy picking. I don't think schlage still makes em.

It's just like the one in my thread you responded to. The body style is different, but it's the exact same configuration.

Many lock makers are putting out padlocks that accept KIKs. I sure is nice to have padlocks that can be set to just about any key, as long as you have the core
