If it's a padlock your not going to be able to open it how you would open a safe. If your planning to drill it, tha'ts not really cracking it. Cracking is usually means finding out the combo without damaging it in any way, such as listening for contact points and such. Good luck though :)

is this a broad sweeping assumption or are you familiar with this particular padlock?

Manipulation resistance rating. I dont know much about manipulation, but I know you dont want to start on this kind of lock.

Probably alot like trying to learn how to pick on a 6 pin Yale keyed to MACS with all spools.

That thing's a beast. I wonder where I could get one.
This for some reason reminds me of some movie i saw recently. Safe robber drilled a small hole in the middle of the dial and inserted a fiber optic camera+light, the kind that are less than 1 mm in diameter. So you know, he can watch the gaps in the disks line up. Wonder if that's practical at all? Problably not.

No, you would drill a diagonal hole to get a better "vantage"

It won't be as easy as "hearing the clicks with a stethascope", because there are no clicks. Read how to manipulate combination locks, pull out your graph paper and get to it.

There are clicks. There are the clicks from when the pickup points on the timblers hit, but more importantly there are clicks at the contact points on the drive cam. Some locks it's very difficult to hear these clicks.
