Trying First Lock - EZ Set

Greetings!
First of all, thanks to everyone here - I did some research on this site and purchased a 14 piece Southord set of picks. I just bought a EZset 5-Pin(I believe) deadbolt. I assembled it (sans door, of course) yet still cannot seem to pick the thing...I'm using the tension wrench and I've tried raking it first then single picking with my small hook pick. Still, no dice.

It often seems like I have all of the pins "up" and I can't really find any more pins to pick...just wondering if there may be something I'm completely missing here.

Cool. I looked through it, but I'm having trouble finding the first pin which is (according to the guide) the only thing keeping the lock from turning at that point. How do you find which pin to start with?

I apologize if I seem dense, but the guide, helpful though it was, left me with some questions.
