Postby dcsbass » 5 May 2008 9:43

I pick a few locks. But I need help with this. I have several of these on my boat lock/latchs. Disk Plug Locks.I know how to get them out . My problem is they are breaking. At the end and not letting me open latches where all my rods ,etc are. They have a little pin in end.125 dia. same hieght. Does anybody know who or where Perko get them???? This is company that make these for my boat. I've written but they haven't return my emails or letters. I just want to get new ones. I don't need but ten.
Any Help is Grateful

It sounds like he's talking about a handle with a built in wafer lock. I think he's trying to get the plug out.

I just did a google search for Perko+locks and I see why you want to replace the lock plugs instead of buying new locks. I can't get anything to come up from your link but I'm sure someone can help you once they see the pictures.

I looked at your photos and those locks look very dry. are you lubricating them at all? as you know conditions on a boat are much harsher than on a shed or a house lock. Perhaps they are breaking that piece off because, they are not turning freely. lubricate the lock, and the mechanism that the pin is meant to flick open or rotate.

I lubed them this year I removed ever lock from boat. Had to work and clean ever one .The top has a built in seal (O RING) on handle. But they are just breaking ends off, and that turns a cam to disengae hadle so you can open it. I have replaced three already this year. I would just like to buy theses locks. Any Ideas where to get them????
Thanks David C Sr

Freakparade: I think that dcsbass is asking for a source for new lock cylinders, so that he doesn't need to buy an entire lock/latch assembly every time. :?:

I was just getting ready to add something when you responded. Those pics were of the first lock that failed. Thats when I pulled all of them. Had two since. I bought them on ebay. If you buy from store al ot" HIGHER". Those were not cheacp. $25.00 pluss. You can buy perko in any boat shop, BUT they are around $41.00 . I contacted perko and no reply.Just do a search and you fwill find out what I did. Their correct name is T-Handle Surface Mount Lock/Latch from Perko.#1094 in black/black. Is there any other forum I could post in to help? My son said he would take better pics if needed.
