Master Padlocks

Had to pick open 2 Master #3 padlocks, 2 Brinks copies and 1 Craftsman camlock today.....then make keys to them.....


Picking was easy and quick.....but one of the #3's wouldnt impression for quids....nor the code would produce a working key. Also the Craftsman toolbox camlock, used a 1502 blank or 1502M and nom matter whick combination of key code I tried, it would not work or impression.

Perhaps I was too pissed or hung over.....but Making keys was/is a real pain....have 'em in the workshop now....so I can devote more specialised time to them......But it goes to show that picking locks can be an easy part of the job......but actually making keys to these locks can be a pain (for want of a better word).

I've had similar experiences too. Like 50% of the time I can both pick and impression the same Master locks but the other half of the time I can only pick them and can't impression.

Thats why if a customer brings in a dinky little Master No.3 to our shop and ask us to make a key for it I always tell them it's cheaper to go buy a new one. Strangely enough some people will willingly pay the $10-$15 I would charge them to make a key for it.

My customer refuses to turn her padlocks into landfill and would rather pay.....who am I to argue....Just wish it was easier.
