my unkle had a american 5200 i borrowed to fiddled with...its mega nasty, it's sportin serrated driver pins, as well as serrated uppers. no pic of the key just yet, hopefully tomarrow, but as of right now i can get it to a false set with about 20mins of piddle time, hopefully i'll crack it tonight =) heres a pick of the keyway with that first pin being serrated just saying "Hahahah, try me beotch!"

yea, i was in chat a while back pissed cause i couldnt pick a lock and then like 20 minutes later totally got it.... isnt that feeling just great!

the profile of the keyway doesn't seem too to complex, how many pins are in the lock?

yeh, i thought i had felt a spool i just wasn't expeting that...and since i put it back together i can't pick the blasted thing >< not even to a false set...i need a lot more practice with this lock, though im happy i picked it twice =D

from seeing those evil looking pins i would've thought that the profile of the keyway to be different

Congrats on the 5200. You may want to try to pick it in the opposite direction now. If you picked it clockwise using bottom tension, try CCW with a wrench positioned at top of the keyway. Some of these 5200's either pick or false set surprisingly easy in the other direction, even with the spool and serrations. If you do (pick it CCW) you end up having to continue rotating the plug 360 degrees to release the shackle.

the plug only goes CW Oo and i don't have a wrench for the bottom of this particular keyway

Here's a picture of how to go about defeating the 5200 going CCW with top of the keyway tension. The tension wrench in just a broken bobby pin. This allows you to bypass the bottom keyway guard that prohibits the key from turning CCW. But without the guard, these plugs are like Boy George, they go both ways.
