Picking THIS lock

Postby ultima55 » 10 Aug 2004 0:33

I am a noob and I want to start, right next to me is one of those golden locks, its not a master but the padlocks that are pretty small with the bronze/gold colored bottom and the key hole on the bottom of it. What exactly is the name of this type of lock. Thanks, thats all :)

Brass Padlocks...? I'm not sure, there may be a company that manufactures them (that may be "no name") or may have a name. I know that some of the smaller locks or cheaper locks are harder to pick because of their small keyways, etc.

Is there any name/number/pattern/logo engraved on the lock? That may help you out. 8)

It might help if you describe it in more detail, but the gold color suggests Brass, and the fact that it looks like a master suggests that you are looking at a padlock! Do a search for "Padlock" on here or in your favorite search engine for more information and some pictures, etc...

Padlocks are a good place to start... read through the forums, especially the Faqs and general information to get yourself started! There is a wealth of information in there so make sure you dig. :) There is plenty in there to get you started... also, search for a document called "The MIT guide to lockpicking" for some great info to get started...

Oh, and Welcome if you are new! :)
