stubborn lock (master padlock)

Postby Dak » 21 Sep 2008 19:44

alright so recently my brother brought me a master padlock from the local school. So I went to picking and to my knowledge there are 3 pins. No security pins just your average everyday pins. So (keep in mind im decently new to picking) I set the pins and the lock turn clockwise to about the 3 O' Clock position, but the shackle won't come loose. I thought I'd try the putting tension the other way and sure enough it turns to about the 9 O' Clock position and the shackle still won't come loose.

I tried using a homemade shim on it and cursing at it. nuthin. Any Ideas? here is the lock.

the engraving on the back says "Master Lock: V53 17752346" and then inverted below that is "02"

Picking locks from schools is a bad idea. Why do you need to pick it? I don't think you'll get help from anyone here since we know it's from a school system.

P.S. There are 4 pins.

Ah thank you.

I was told it was found on the ground outside the school. Being a student at said school and having recieved the lock last year I can say that all the lockers within the campus have locks. I don't think they are missing it too terribly.

Regardless if the knowledgable members of this community would rather not give their input I understand.

Even if this specific lock is no longer in use, it was once part of a system that is probably still used throughout the whole school.

i have 3 locks like this one, and once i pick it to the 3 o'clock position, i just have to pull up on the shackle and it opens, it wont pop open when you pick it due to it not having a spring.

Yes im aware it doesnt have a spring loaded shackle. Its strange because the lock on my locker is exactly the same and I can pick it just fine (yes I know its a cardinal sin to pick a used lock I couldnt help it :P) as well as a friends when she forgot her combination, but this is one just keeps being antagonistic.

Hopefully I will get it sooner or later.
