Non-descript handcuffs

Postby mongo » 7 Jan 2009 17:37

I had a friend come over and drop off a set of plain, well-riveted handcuffs. They were the better non-MP, Police variety. They had the ratchet lock as well. I gave them a good look before I attempted to stick one of my picks in. It is a small opening so I grabbed a pick I made in the summer. 30 sec later I was open. I have seen many cuffs, been in them for many different reasons, but never had the opportunity to pick a set, oh ya I sat in the back seat of my wife's car for effect,,,cool

Mongo,

The question is where were your hands? In front of, or behind your back, and were the cuffs double locked? Good job on getting them open…

do it hands in back, thumbs up in the middle :p

Congrats, i remember the first time i picked handcuffs. Good story...
My fam was having a yard sale, and we had some stuff we really didnt care about, so we left it in the driveway.

We came back from lunch the next day, and its handcuffed to a pole in our driveway. So i picked and shimmed it. got a lot of good practice. I wanted to keep it, but i figured the person would miss their cuffs (they were sorta nice) so i left them locked to the pole.

I woke up the next day and it was bike locked :D

In LockCOn 2008 Ray kept about hour long demonstration and speech about a variety of handcuffs, that was pretty amazing. Multiple ways of getting out and getting them open :) He had like a suitcase full of handcuffs :P

Thanks, my wife was not as enthusiastic. I came running in the house and she stopped me and asked me right out if it had something to do with a lock. hmmm nope its snowing (hides cuffs in back pocket)

I have bad shoulders so picking them from behind me was not an option. Yes they were double locked, and my fingers cramped out from start to finish. I had to look at the pin to make sure I had it pushed it back out, I couldnt feel it. Probably because it isnt spring loaded. That was actually the hardest part. Once I picked it clockwise my wrist kept the pressure on the ratchet, so a quick flick and yes thank you.
Picking these cuffs with fork would require a whole lotta time grinding down one of the tynes. The key way on these cuffs is very small, and my pick had a small round hook and bend. A custom bend now.
