I may have found a challenge for Mister John King

if I may quote

Smith & Wesson Model 100 handcuffs fitted by BOA Handcuff Company with their Cuff-Maxx ASSA Desmo high security lock cylinders.

BOA uses highly pick resistant locks and has a restricted key control system to prevent unauthorized key duplication. Each pair is uniquely keyed and duplicate keys are available only to registered users upon signature verification. Multiple sets can be ordered with two different key options. The locks on each set can all be keyed alike or each set can be keyed different. Medeco lock cylinders available upon request.

We all know that the amazing king can go through medecos like a college students through beers, but what if his medeco is in handcuffs?

I guess you weren't hanging out with us at 4 in the morning at the Lockpicking Village at The Last HOPE hacker conference.

These cylinders are in the picked position.

They're not that hard to open when mounted in handcuffs... and I think I was drunk at the time when I did it. Ray, the German (i think) guy giving the handcuff talk let me play with these. Of course when they put a camera on me to uncuff them from Marc Tobias, I sucked and couldn't do it, then half way through I realized that the night before I was using my Raimundo Bogotas triple threat rakes to open them in 30 seconds, but for the video camera I chose my HPC half diamond.

As for those Orange ASSA Desmo cuffs, those are a nightmare to open, a very well made lock mechanism, which uses no springs and has dual sidebars.

Hi Dak,

Do you mean while the cuffs are on John or just sitting on a table? The ones in that photo are for prisoner transport and are attached at the ankle.

You would be correct in saying that a short chain handcuff version of these Peerless cuffs with the BOA Medeco cylinders would be difficult if behind your back, but probably do able in a few minutes if cuffed from the front.

The annoying part is that if they are double locked, you first have to pick them CCW, then lock them and then pick them CW to unlock them. the left hand is a reverse of that, pick CW first, relock, then pick CCW. I think the ones that were on Marc Tobias I manged to pick in the wrong direction 3 times in a row, I must have been beet red, the Toby Blusmanis took over and got them off in about 5 to 10 mins.

Well that makes sense then if they were leg irons :P. What kind of medeco cylinder is it? it looks like a cam cylinder almost, in which case I can imagine them being easier then I originally thought. None the less I am intrigued and might have to get a pair.
