Anyone ever seen these locks before?

Information about locks themselves. Questions, tips and lock diagram information should be posted here.

Anyone ever seen these locks before?

Postby Solomon » 28 Jan 2009 12:26

I was at my local locksmiths yesterday and he gave me this to play with. It is, without a doubt, the easiest lock I've ever picked (yes, even easier than a Master padlock) and I'm shocked that someone actually had this installed on a door at some point. The brand reads "UAP", anyone ever seen these before? It's very heavy and seems well constructed, so I figured it might just have pins removed for some reason... until I picked the other side just as easily. :P

Here are a couple of pics:

Front

Any information on what these are or where they come from would be cool. I've never seen the brand before, and it's probably a good thing if they're all as easy to open as this one was.

Lovely irony - Did you notice on their front page they are running a campaign to stop the sales of bumpkeys? Yet they sell a lock that is so incredibly easy to open you found.

That's kinda scary. Hopefully this is just a one-off.. and why are they running a campaign to stop the sale of bump keys when any idiot with a handheld file can make one in 5 minutes? It's all just publicity to make their company look better. :P

Seesh. They're only wanting to ban bump keys because no one will buy their crappy locks any longer. You don't see legitimate lock companies supporting a ban on bumpkeys. Real lock companies get their R&D departments into gear and don't screw around with stupid legislation.

Next thing you know, they'll outlaw files. Shakespeare was right about what to do to all the lawyers.

That Euro cylinders been treated with an antibump solution called Pickbuster which is quite amusing considering pickbuster doesnt actually stop you spping one of these cylinders and pretty much doesnt stop you bumping them either
heres a link to see how much UAP are ripping people off for

if everyone who tried something new liked it but didnt bother telling anyone else there would never be anything new to try...

And how are you using the word "bulgar" or "of mixed origin, promiscuous, a mix" in a sentence?
