Strange Type of Key...?

Postby domes198 » 4 Feb 2009 22:46

Hey,

I noticed a key that instead of having serrated-like edges on the top or bottom of it in order to gain entry, it had little dots/imprints on the sides of the key while being flat on the top and bottom. I'm just wondering what type of key that is because I've searched everywhere but to no avail. The lock where the key fits also has 3 little arrows pointing up in a square but I do no it that is some type of logo or what...

Thanks

Sounds like a dimple lock.

Here's a pic of the lock and keys for those not familiar with Sargent Keso dimple locks. A very cool lock design.

They are also on eBay for 10$ + shipping, about 15$ if you are in the US, but you only get 1 key.

Oh man, I had to look for 10 minutes to find it and spell Sargent the wrong way too... I'm not a fan of that seller, she likes to say they are Sargent Greenleaf which they are not, and to also say they are Medeco which they are clearly not. Thanks for the link though.

Yes I like this one, the first lock I ever foil impressioned. The key blanks for this lock also fit a number of LIPS locks too.

Very easy to pick the first generation ones. I could do them behind my back in seconds.

Yes, I have the same sargent keso lock as you, it's also difficult to me because there isn't anything to grapple off with your pick and wrench, that may just be because I'm not an incredibly experianced dimple picker.
