Hey all, I've been busy with my new machine Here is a little selection of locks I cutaway when i had a spare couple of hours. All 1 time cuts, no testers, and all by eye. http://img18.imageshack.us/img18/6607/cimg5849.jpgI'm building my courage up with what I call 'dispoasable' locks so I can finally sit down and cut my ASSA 6000 Twin away. Comments welcome

Nicely done mate! Tried to get some graduates at my school to make a cutaway, and of course they did it just right but one of the teachers told them to take of 1 mm more. That made all the difference, now all the pins just fall out... Luckily it was just a cheap lock that I had three identical of. Just have to say it again, excellent work

Thanks guys We all have to start somewhere..... here's where I started, before I even thought about getting a machine! This lock was done when I first joined here, with nothing more than a hacksaw and a file. It worked though http://img25.imageshack.us/img25/1728/cimg5850.jpgI'm going to get a lot more dangerous with my cuts when I get a little more knowledge about the locks I like working with. I hhad a sort of vision of a euro cylinder totally covered with 1mm holes, all in perfect grid lines to make it see through but still functional.... but I'll do that next week I think.

£415 for the machine plus £50 for the vice, then the cutters: 6mm £7, 3mm £4, 1.5mm £3. I can do about 50 locks with one 6mm cutter if I am careful, they stay sharp for ages providing they are good quality to start with.

I'm jealous..
But even with the same machine, I'm not sure I'd be able to make so nice cutaway...

It's actually not that hard. I done that MTL cutaway in under 45 minutes. Was one of the simplest cuts I've done! It took a good few hours of visually checking the lock to see how the parts would behave, but the actual cut it self is very simple

First of all, they are beautiful! They look like you bought them straight from a specialized website or something Are you willing to sell them at some point? I would really like to have one, but they are incredibly expensive when you buy them on a locksmithsite...

Those three are for sale on an auction site (3 guesses which one!) I'm not allowed to link to from here, sorry. I start them at fair prices, some of my Abus full cut padlocks went for £12

Is your machine a vertical milling machine? That is what I've heard people use. I'm not increadibly sure I know what that is but I'm pretty sure it's just a drill press with a grinding bit
