Lock indentification help

Postby GulleyOwl » 24 Apr 2009 7:54

I just saw a lock I have never heard of before.
It was a brass-ish padlock with a cylindrical body. The keyway, however, seemed really weird to me. It was only a single small circle. I'm just going from memory, but I think the keyway was about 2mm in diameter. I didn't see any pins inside, but I didn't get a good look. Any ideas?

Thanks

p.s. I can get a better look or take a picture if you guys want.

Pictures always help to make sure. I'll hazard a guess that youre looking at a disk detainer mechanism:

Hey OlsonB, thanks for the photo, that appears to be the type of chinese lock that Jimmie has posted about in the advanced section. it appears to have a hex shaped keyway, not round and you can see the tips of pins comeing into the keyway at top and at ten oclock and two oclock.
perhaps you were looking for a quick photo of a disc detainer and found this instead? :D

How on earth do you apply torsion to these things? I have a theory, but I'll not say anything at risk of sounding like an idiot. :P
