Brink 40mm padlock - general question on picking

Postby Desert Fox » 27 May 2009 22:29

Hi guys, I just finished purchasing a Master 40mm and a Brink's 40mm padlock.

Initially I thought the Master would be harder, but that was a pretty easy pick to do.

However I'm stuck on the Brink. It seems there are some security pins that only go when another pin is also set at the same exact time. For example, pin 2 and 4 have to be set at the same time in order for them to set properly. Otherwise, I believe I can get 3 out of the 4 pins, but there is one pin I can't get.

So I guess my question is what should I do in a situation like this where I can't find the binding pin? I've tried raking, spp, high tension, low tension but to no avail. Just curious what I should try :)

Thanks,
Fox

well, on most newer brinks padlocks there are serrated drivers. These are a pain. If it's not serrated and it's mushroomed, then start with your back pin first and work your way out of the lock. Doesn't matter on high, low, sideways, upside down tension...it's all about your preference. GL

Well thanks for the heads up, I figured if it was not a spool pin it was serrated. Just before I logged on I got it, the front pin had to be set very high up. Thanks for the help :) time to buy some harder locks, any suggestions?

well this may be a little early for a challenge like this but it's always good to have a really hard lock to work with until you get it, but I'd venture to recomend the kryptonite

So that's what it looks like, 6 pins, 5 spooled drivers, 5 serrated key pins, and the first pin stack is stainless steel to fight drilling. It's truly a great challenge
