American #????

this is the only lock ive met that i have not been able to pick...

not saying ive picked that awful much but grr...

any1 got any info on this sucker cause i cant find anything on it

a friend of mine found it when he was cleaning out some1s conex

he brought it to me(along with a 12V sloar panel, that was nice of him)

but i just cant crack it

i can pop 5200s all day but this sucker is beyond me so any info would be helpful. what series it is if it has security pins, tome it feels like the 3rd and 4th might be mushroom pins but thats usually not a problem for me.

thanks for the help

That would be the American Lock Model: AMS100 / Series: MS100

NSN: 5340-01-346-7462

One of the coolest looking padlocks I've had the pleasure to add to my collection.

thanks for sharing your pics, happy picking.

The bitting on that key actually doesn't look too bad at all... I can't imagine it's any different than the 5200's you've been picking. Good luck I'm sure you'll get it.

Have you tried, different tension strategies. I have one American lock that will only pick to false set with top of keyway tension and then will only pick to shear with bottom of keyway tension. I literally have to put it in false set, remove my tension wrench and re-insert it in the bottom of keyway and then pick it out of false set to shear.

I've never seen an American Lock with mushroom pins. They seem to be either serrated or spool/serrated (spool with serrations on the top and bottom).

i generally consider serrated bins that are only serated at the top and bottom spool pins as ive seen some manyfacturers that call there pins muchroom pins when the are nothing more than a serrated pin that is serrated at only the bottom...

my logic... but i suppose you are correct

that and Serrated and Spool start with the same letter so i would be saying the pin combinations are sssss sssss and sssss

lol and that just dont work

This is a mushroom pin:

This is a spool pin:

And this is a serrated pin:

And here are pins specifically from an American Lock:

I believe it was the great Schuyler who also coined the term "spoorated" for the American Lock pins that are spooled, but each of their spools is also serrated.

where is that guy anyway?
