Sargent & Greenleaf 833c just PICKED! =)

Alright everyone great news!

I just picked a Sargent & Greenleaf 833c military padlock to Control. I have never had keys for this lock, another member of lp101 mailed it to me and I've been trying to pick it for a few minutes every night this week and I finally got it open.

When I got it picked, I decided to do a quick breakdown but I'm sure the youtube video I just put up will get its fair share of nay sayers who still think Medeco cant be picked, or I messed with the cylinder or something. Wish the camera was rolling while I picked it but no such luck.

Here's the link to the video, sorry for the cell phone quality, but I'm elated right now and had to share with you guys. btw.. in the video I say Peterson Reach.. scorche, in chat on IRC has been kind enough to remind me that it is a Peterson Gem. thanks man!

Thanks for watching,

Well done 8)

Usually I try to pick a new and difficult lock for about half an hour a day till it opens. Your idea of picking it for just a few minutes a day is interesting. It's less time consuming and in the end you learn the same feeling. I'll try it with my next challenge lock...

Cheers :)

Congrats. I wish i could get one for a decent price somewhere. All military locks impress me how they are assembled.

Congrats! I took the same approach of picking for just a few minutes per day on my 831-b...it helped maintain my sanity.
Do you have a source for blanks for these locks? I still haven't been able to find a blank for my 831-b. Also, I heard a horror story from a guy who said he knows someone who had a core for one of these locks confiscated because they are not supposed to be available to the public...I don't know if there is any truth to the story or not but I sure don't want to risk losing my core so I've been a little less ambitious here lately about trying to have a key made.

I'm curious are there any milled pins in there or any special arx pins?

Great job brotha!! I knew I was sending that lock to a great home. I've wasted way too much of my life messing with that thing. You are much more of a man than I.

I may be a lock monkey but you're the real man for spending time in the sandbox for all of us civilians back home.

Thanks man, and thanks for letting me play with that lock =)
