Another one of my many ideas lol

Information about locks themselves. Questions, tips and lock diagram information should be posted here.

Another one of my many ideas lol

playing with some tough cylinders today that are proving very hard to pick

I noticed that the key pins in a few of them sit very low in the keyway. This was due to the nature of the keyway which appears to extend beyond the sheer line, ie you can actually 'just' see the sheer line of the pins looking into the hole

i managed to find a piece of micro gauge piano wire and file one end tapered like a hypodermic needle

I then gently persuaded it through the sheer line of the pins by twisting and pushing gently. You can even get a pick in and overlift the pins then release to catch the sheer line with your needle.

Idea is : IF you can get your wire to the end of the keyway, the sheer line is clear and 'should', with a tad of wiggling open the lock

problem is the locks i have here arent the best to test my theory on as they are heavily warded with low lying front pins followed by high lift pins.

Try it out and let me know how you get on, iv managed to get 4 out of 6 pins but cant get the back two.
