I think I killed my lock

Postby LocksmithArmy » 21 Mar 2010 19:22

So i was handed this huge chunky lock awhile back a "TRUPER Cacer-65" and its a master wannabe... opened it infront of the gifter in about 15 seconds...
It has a real stiff cam so I use it to test new picks and tensors for my website or various lockpick companies I may be testing tools for. ths cylinder is my step one locks because its so easy to pick... and allowe me to test the tensors in the set cause I have yet to find a lock harder to turn than this one
I used it to test everything...

including when I wanted to make POS picks from freshly found sweeper bristles and I had no sand paper... or files...
so ground down to the "pick" shape on concrete lol I made crude shitty picks and proceded to open hald a dozen master DGs with it just to laugh at the military... then proceded to open my usual step one test lock... FAIL... oh well they werent much for picks... then they opened muy step 2 (master 140) ans step 3(american 5200) with admarable difficulty... but I have tried every pick that I have in this state and every way I know possible... FOR 3 DAYS and still cannot open this chunky POS master wannabe... GRRRR

I used to blow this thing open... not litterally... but close...

3 days later its still just chillin shut

I did notice 1 thing different though... the cylinder itself used to be solid hangin out in one spot(like an american 5200) but now it wiggles all over the place(like a DG) Im not sure how or what is wrong... but i think I killed it :(

hrmm... appearantly... the last time I picked it succesfully I left it picked(not uncommon) and it rotated around to the little holes on the bottom of the cylinder are... and lost 1 pin... so now in my 5 pin lock... there are only 4 bottom pins and 5 top pins... and while taking it apart i seem to have lost my pin... i think it happened while i was taking it apart... it would be really odd if a pin came out while i was picking 3 days ago... and me not notice... hrmm

oh well thanks for listening lol

FWIW I can't ever get that *cough* Peterson tool *cough* to work. Completely useless IMO.

Best of luck with the lock. If you can drop the core out you can probably replace that pin.

it would be cool to make a lock that uses a gravity top pin to jam a cylinder like that

I've heard that Prefer makes a pin tumbler lock without springs... but it must be mounted in the right direction otherwise it's impossible to open it. I've never seen it, I can ask and eventually let you know something more.

Cheers :)

I have a Medeco vending machine lock, with no springs, works great as long as it's mounted the correct way!!
