Tension Question

Information about locks themselves. Questions, tips and lock diagram information should be posted here.

Tension Question

Postby UnlockD » 21 Mar 2010 19:50

I'm working on a Papaiz Padlock and I am struggling. Can't get around the 5 spools. I've gotten past all 5 spools on other locks, but the plug turns alot when tension is applied, and before the picking begins. More of a turn then anyother lock I've encountered.
I understand the point of that is to make it harder to pick but where do I stop? Halfway?
With such sensitivity to tension and the Inox springs, would raking, or SPP be advised?

It is labeled on the padlock itself INOX SPRINGS, the lock itself is a 200/40 Papaiz.
I've believe it just means stronger springs.

Inox simply means stainless. From the French "inoxydable."

I got Papaiz profile lock and this thing is a bugger to deal with sometimes so I feel your frustrations. Sometimes I just give up without even getting it open once.

On locks with nasty spool drivers I sometimes crank up the tension a little more than usual as I push up on the pin stack with the offending driver. Doesn't work all the time but it's how I try to deal with these.
If a lock is a puzzle, then its key is the complete picture
