american series 10

Postby pjzstones » 27 Apr 2010 15:45

i just got an american series 10 today. i was looking to get a 1100 or 5200 but this was the closest thing the shop had on hand. i got it open in under 30 second so i was kind of disappointed. i was hoping it'd put up a better fight than that. maybe serrated pins just aren't a weakness of mine. but anyways to the problem. it's rekeyable just like the 1100 but the retaining pin doesn't look like you can unsrew it. it looks more like it's a rivet of some sort. does any one no how to disassemble it with out damaging it?

i'm thinking about drilling the retaining pin and replacing it with one from an 1100 or something. would that work though? would it fit?
i'm just really curious as to what's inside it because it's the first american lock i've picked.
also here's a video of the lock.

i got open with out damaging the lock. i drilled the top of the rivet enough to where i could tap it out. there were 3 serrated drivers, a hybrid spool driver, 3 serrated key pins, and a standard key pin. now i just have to find a replacement retaining screw.
