What am I doing wrong? BEST core

Postby revoked » 30 Apr 2010 2:20

Hello all
I recently purchased an office building, and didn't receive a key for the roof of the warehouse. I haven't had the locks changed out yet, since I picked up lock picking as my new hobby and decided to learn.
So, as a newbie, I decided it would be a decent lock to try and hone my skills on.

I've been working on this lock for about 20 minutes every day for the past week with no success. Can anyone give me any pointers? I've successfully picked other locks I purchased on my own, but from my research, BEST locks are a tough breed.

Below is an image of the best attempt I've gotten. The tension bar turns about 10 degrees, and if I turn it back the other way, I can definitely hear pins dropping back into place.

I have to put in a new AC unit before it gets warmer, so I gave myself the timeframe of the next three days to pick it before calling a locksmith. ANY pointers would be appreciated... especially was wondering if I'm even turning the tension bar the right way.

Thanks

Don't think you will get too much help with this. We are a suspicious bunch :p

Keep trying is all I would suggest ;)
What a load of old BiLocks!!!!

I'm probably 0 for 400 in looking for safes behind wall paintings

Good going guys.

This person does NOT own the lock, nor does he have permission to pick it.

I WILL bet VERY GOOD money they don't even have any legal right in that part of the building.

Do not help people when its a new member, (AND) a lock in use, (or) clearly a commercial lock in use.

Nice try, student.

Whether he owns it or not, our rule is we don't pick locks in use. It will just cause more trouble than it's worth.
For the best book out there on high security locks and their operation, take a look at amazon.com for High-Security Mechanical Locks An Encyclopedic Reference. Written by our very own site member Greyman! A true 5 Star read!!
