Ball bearings hold the slug in the case. The control key has dimples drilled for the balls to fall into to allow you to extract the assembly.

So what stops you just pulling the cylinder out when there is no key?? Again, the ball bearings.... you have to insert the control key and rotate to a point where the bearings can slip past a notch in the groove that traps them.

Very nice design :)

The BiLock pictured is a QC "Quick Change" core, which uses the ball bearings to hold itself in place, as Snowy described. Other BiLock models use a traditional cam to hold the plug in place.

Right......... here we go :)

Only a prototype, so this is where it stops. I have another BiLock with no key that I can't seem to get in to by picking :| I will get it soon I'm sure & when I do I will do the whole kit + kaboddle on it ;)

Came out fully functional, even though I paniced on one of the lower pin window cuts when I decided to change it slightly. Luckily, it holds together perfectly :)

My one regret is that I had to drill the user key into a control key. I tried for weeks to pick it, but failed and lost patience. No biggie though...... you don't have to pull on it once its turned..... you just have to remember xD

Enjoy :)

Nice work man, looks great!

Are BiLock pins all the same length, and the position of the 4 true sidebar holes moves along the length of the pin, or are there several lengths of pins as well for locks with really extreme high-low bitting?

Thanks!

All the pins are the same lengh & shape (as far as I can remember.... I will dismantle it tonight for some nice breakdown pics).

It is the position of the hole on the pin that changes. Also, some have a false hole, some don't. The sidebars act to stop the pins rotating, the legs of the bar sit about 1/4mm in the groove.

This BiLock in particular is a 12 pin. An extremely vicious pick to say the least!

I just saw another cut I could do that would make it even more interesting........ I will see if I am still feeling it later when I give a breakdown :)

Yeah, same pin sizes with varying true gates. See picture at http://lockwiki.com/index.php/File:BiLock_NG_pins.jpg
