removing plug from Fichet

Postby atlsmitty » 17 Feb 2011 23:01

Now i only spent a few minutes on the lock and may a missed an obvious solution but i had some trouble removing the plug from an h-key way fichet. it seemed as if the sidebars would not depress far enough to allow plug to be withdrawn. any ideas?

i know the pics aren't very helpfull

When i had a few more minutes to look it over the lock was just dirty, sidebars didn't wanna fully depress. more force is not usually what is needed on locks but in this case it was. once plug was out i was able to break down the lock and clean with some tri-flow. pretty interesting design even though the lock has a bypass.

thanks for the link

Tri-Flow is a wet lubricant. I hope you removed all traces of it before re-assembling. Leaving Tri-Flow in a cylinder is practically begging dirt and grime to stick around.
