I just got a Kaken lock from a japanese hardware store and I dont know how it works exactly. It has two pin tumblers at the top, but then it has two pins on the side which can rise or fall freely. They dont have any tension on them, and they are not used to retain the key. It was not hard to pick, but the two side pins do need to be raised to the right height. Once they are raised to the right height there are certain points where the plug is only partialy rotated where they can move freely again.
So I was wondering what those pins were for or how they worked.
This is a picture of it, not the exact kind i have, this one looks like it has more pins, but the same type/manufacturer...
