Need a Key for This Lock - Help!

Postby powellbak » 1 Mar 2011 10:47

Hi,

I'm new to this forum. I just bought a trunk "as is". It has a lock on it that I do not have the key to. The trunk is a Chinese Painted Pigskin Trunk, that may help in determining what kind of key I need to get.

Please check out these pics:

Thanks!

Sorry I hit submit instead of preview... I was going to add:

Even in this case, just bring the trunk to a locksmith, it's the most convenient option.

Good luck :)

I am looking to buy a key for my trunk. It is very awkward to take this to a bunch of locksmith shops. I am hoping that a locksmith that is on this site will see the lock, recognize it and then I can go to a shop and purchase a key.

Your best bet is to phone around to locksmith shops first, and find out which one(s) have a special affinity for very old hardware and carry an extensive line of skeleton keys, and if necessary, are willing to grind one custom made.

Your average locksmith shop isn't going to have what you need.

Grab an LED light and have a look inside, by the depth of the visible area I'm guessing its very simplistic inside.

Thanks! I'll give that a try...

Any other suggestions are most welcome.
