Chateau lock, security pins?

Postby Canute13 » 7 Sep 2011 19:44

Sorry if I'm posting in the wrong section, pretty new to this site but...

I recently started my lock picking hobby, I've started with some Master Lock padlocks but I have an older lock with the brand "Chateau", it seems to have some kind of security pins in it? The lock seems to falsely set when I try to SPP it. This is just my first week of picking but if anybody has any insight on Chateau locks or anything about this, it would be much appreciated, thanks!

Chateau's usually have spooled pins. Sometimes they aren't too bad, other times they can be a nightmare.

Search around (find a few youtube videos) to see how to pick spooled pins.
Then just keep practicing.

Thanks! Will do, I appreciate the response. Out of the three most common types of security pins, mushroom, spool, and serrated, which is the most difficult?

This answer will change pending on who answers it. Some people are better at picking one type or the other, usually that's because they have practice more on one than the others.

For me, out of the choices given. Serrated pins are the hardest.

For me i will say depends on what locks
i am picking
Serrated pins, give hard time sometimes
sometimes, spooled pins can give you hardtime on some locks
others locks may have spooled pins and mushroom
but definably all of them can be hard to pick
good luck.
