Abloy Protec hardware - finishes, interchangeable cores

Postby cerfsud » 20 Sep 2011 16:05

Hello all,

Let me preface this by saying I do not know much about locks...

I'm looking to purchase a couple of Abloy Protec deadbolts - somewhat because I find solace in having something better than Kwikset, but honestly, also because I admire the novelty of them.

We currently have aged brass-type hardware on our exterior doors (a la http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B001A5GPUI/), and I can only find Protec deadbolts in gold or silver. So, if I want to be insistant on getting something that matches my handles, my only option is to find a deadbolt with an interchangeable core that Abloy makes a Protec core for, correct? What are my best options here? I see KIK Protec cylinders are made, so I started looking for KIK deadbolts, but I had a hard time finding decent and/or brand-name deadbolts of that type.

Can anyone give me a hand in showing me to the light? Much appreciated!

I'm in the US and have been using http://www.securitysnobs.com/ for my window shopping.

Send them an e-mail, they know all about the available options.

Cheers

We are an Abloy dealer, and can order Abloy locks in an Antique brass finish, but it takes a long time as they are replated by special order.
Your local Abloy dealer should be able to do the same.
Cost is more, and no guarantee it's going to match your finish.
