Ancient Locks: Evolutionary Development of the Lock & Key

***Thought this would be helpful information to some people here, but if it is in the wrong spot or not allowed, please move or delete***

I just finished reading Ancient Locks: The Evolutionary Development of the Lock and Key by Scott J. Klemm and I posted a review here. MacGuyver pointed me to it when he posted about it in the comments sections of Schuyler's Kickstarter (Thanks MacGuyver101!)

I am very excited about this book because it is full of great references to the origins of locks and keys. There is even a section at the end on shackles, restraints, and manacles. Throughout the book, Scott goes through describing different ancient locks from different parts of the world. He also give a good thesis that rejects the idea that the first pin tumbler type lock originated in Egypt. He translated many texts and dug up a lot of good information during his studies. This book is definitely worth the read!

The author sells the book directly and the cost is $30 shipped. If you are really into the history of locks, this is the text for you! The author can be contacted either on the Goodreads site or at his email address posted there as well (scottjklemm@aol.com).

Please let me know if you have any questions! I have been in touch with the author several times and he seems like a great guy! He also has another book coming out soon once he finds a place to publish.

Hope this helps someone,
Ed
