CISA Astral S Master keyed if possible

Postby Pickmequick » 5 Oct 2012 12:12

Hi all,

First post so be gentle :-)

I tried to post in high security locks but it wont allow me access.

I have 2 keyed alike CISA Astral S cylinders and want to purchase another one with its own 3 keys that DON'T fit my 2 locks but the keys from my 2 locks, i require to work on the new lock.

I have been told that this is a master system i require and it takes 3 months for Italy to do this.

Is there someone out there who can do this for me?

I thought that with my key number, a CISA locksmith can get pin sizes from that so could it not be worked backwards, i.e. use 9 of the 10 pins in my lock and change one to a different depth which would produce a different keycode that wont work on mine but if the 10th pin is left out of the new lock (I am happy it would still take some picking), my key would then work on this new lock?

Any help or advice greatly appreciated.

Rich.

I'm afraid I can't offer much help, but two things to get out of the way...

There is a sticky at the top of that section that explains how to gain access.

Knowing what part of the world you are in will help greatly with this, I am sure.

Found a helpful chap who will do it but at a cost of £64 plus VAT.

Ouch.

I wont be paying that but if anyone ever needs that service, they are the only ones out of about 15 people i phoned who would even do it.

What you're asking is not an everyday task, so many locksmiths won't bother trying. Here in Italy, where cisa is made, the few locksmiths who make masterkey systems, prefer to rekey all of your locks instead of making a new one which works with your previous key.
If the quoted price includes the new cylinder with its 3 keys I'd accept it. If it's just for the rekey I'd say it's too much.

If you are willing to work on it by yourself, you could buy another cylinder to play with. Since you're there ask for some extra pins...
Get one of your old keys copied with a cut by code machine, leaving two positions 2 steps lower than your key.
Completely repin the new cylinder to work with this new key and, just in the two chambers different from your old cylinders, use lower pins so you can put in a master pin.
This way you should get the job done. Test carefully the cylinder before mounting it on the door.

Cheers :)

Thanks for that.

I don't have anything for pulling the cylinders to bits and don't fancy a £30 paperweight :D

Plus I can't see any of the locksmiths supplying me with pins or even cutting the key.

The only reason I want it this way is for less keys on my ring and £77 is not really worth that.

I'll wait til I need more locks adding to the system and see if he'll do a better deal at that time.

Cheers.
